Hypnosis question?

Anyone out there ever been hypnotized? There is a hypnotist show coming to our school this weekend for a welcome back thing and my boyfriend really wants me to volunteer. He is really into hypnosis and it turns him on, and to be honest I am curious about it. I am a little bit nervous, cause I am pretty shy and don't want to embar myself. So...I guess I want to know should I do it, is my boyfriend a freak for liking it, and if you have been hypnoed what should I expect? Thanks a bunch.
