Does iambic pentameter have any meaning in Shakespeare's sonnets?

I disagree with the first two answers. Shakespeare used iambic pentameter because that is the meter of ordinary speech. It made his poems and plays accessible for the common man. He used rhyme to aid in memory for recitation.
